Atomic three-tiered lampshade in the vintage fifties lighting style, available in a wide range of sizes, colors, and patterns.
shown:
medium (13″ diameter)
main tier: desert rose
top + bottom tiers: butterscotch
pattern: swirls
The mirrored angled tier shape of the atomic 3-tier shade is one the most characteristic 1950s designs. As a lamp shade, it works great on many vintage 1950s lamps, but it is important to get the scale of the shade correct. The bottom angled tier doesn’t work with every lamp style, but it’s a knockout when on many vintage lamp bases that incorporate angles or other strong geometric shapes into the base configuration. This shade style also makes a great, eye-catching pendant lamp style, and is great for dramatic lighting, whether in restaurants or bars, or for a vintage touch in your own dining room or kitchen. The pendant shade style can also be fitted with a bottom diffuser, although they usually aren’t necessary on the medium-sized shade.

The colors on the shade in the flickr link were orange for the main tier, and desert rose for the top and bottom tiers.
I have a retro lampshade that needs repair. Can you help me find the stuff used to do the lattice work or lacing? I think it’s called filma. Not sure.
thanks,
KarenHi Karen,
You could try using the caning material used on chair seats and backs.
I have a 62 1/2″ tall retro style floor lamp. The 2 tier atomic style shade got lost when I moved and I need to replace it. This lamp has a reflector so it would require a reflector fitter. The reflector fitter was positioned approximately 2″ to 4″ down inside the main tier and the second tier was attached to the reflector fitter. The lamp head consists of a 4 socket receptacle(a large center socket surrounded by 3 smaller sockets located 8″ lower on the lamp head) and the reflector (8″ dia X 5 1/2″ H) that sits inside the center socket; it’s total height is 12 1/2″. I do not see that your carry the reflector fitter. So, can you make this shade for me? If so, I expect it would require the oversized 2 tier atomic shade. The main tier would be 14″X16″X18″H and the second tier would be 8″X10″X8″H. How much would this cost and what would be the shipping cost?
We have torchiere bowl shade clips, which work better than reflector bends for use on glass bowl diffusers.
Could you please send me samples of shade material in butterscotch, beeswax, caramel, sand, antique white and cream? I placed an order for 3 lamps in beeswax and caramel, but would like to take a look at them all.
Lisa
