three-tier fiberglass lamp shade

top + bottom tiers: coffee

The brown lanyard picks up the shade’s brown swirls pattern. Each shade presents a series of design options like this that can help you design your ideal lampshade or pendant lamp. There are literally millions of possible combinations of our different sizes, 1950s lampshade styles (i.e. shapes), mid-century lamp shade and pendant shade colors, retro patterns (and pattern colors), and lanyard whipstitching options.

Our caramel and deep caramel colors echo authentic tanned suede and rawhide tones, and are great choices for 1950s vintage Western lamps and rustic lodge lighting. Caramel pairs well with coffee, as shown above.

Meteor Lights’ 3-tier lampshade or pendant lamp shade is one of the classic vintage styles most associated with Eames-era (i.e.Midcentury Modern) lighting design.

This style is a great shade choice for our light fixtures and pendant lamps – for dining rooms, dens, foyers, restaurants, bars, lobbies, and almost any other room. The vintage 1950s-style 3-tier shade style works great on most floor lamps; for some vintage floor lamp styles that have torchiere bowl diffusers and/or candle socket cluster arrayed around the center of the lamp, it is important that there is enough clearance between the smaller tier and the bowl or socket cluster. Contact us for more information if you have any questions about this.

The 3-tier shade also works well on many table lamps, especially the vintage 1950s/Eames-era style lamps which originally sported this shade model. The 3-tier also work on many modern lamp styles, but in general, because the smaller bottom tier is such a break from traditional shade geometry, it is a bit trickier to fit than the regular 2-tier shade. When it works, the 3-tier shade is a knockout, but if in doubt, it is almost always a safe bet to go with the regular 2-tier style.

What colour lanyard was used for this shade? Brown or chestnut?

This shade had chestnut lanyard (reddish brown). The other brown lanyard is a dark brown.
