The free-form web design inspired by the American Abstract Expressionist painters (especially Jackson Pollock) was characteristic of 1950s modern lighting design. Black and white webs are shown here on all tiers of an XL (18″ diameter) three-tier lampshade (which can also be configured as a pendant lamp or ceiling light fixture). We can make this shade in any color combination (or in one color for all three tiers); Very interesting lighting effects can be achieved incorporating non-1950s colors into otherwise period-authentic lighting. Combining design elements from different eras is a great way create fresh, unique, and inspiring design. We make exact and authentic 1950s lighting replicas, as well as variations incorporating contemporary color palettes and designs.

3-tier fiberglass lampshade
The XL 3-tier lampshade (or pendant lamp shade) by Meteor Lights is the classic, retro mid-century/modern fiberglass shade style. Shown here in deep caramel, with brown arcs on the main tier, but available in many other colors and optional patterns.
The 3-tier shade design is a quintessential example of vintage modern design. This shade style was originally produced in the 1940s and 1950s for new lamp bases. Today, 3-tier fiberglass shades make excellent replacement shades for a wide range of lamps, and they can be made as pendant lamps and swag lamps with different electrical fixturing and hanging options.

Hi,
I am looking for a smaller 3tier (or 2 tier) pendant lamp. My wife and I like what we have seen on your website. Do you sell to homeowners? If so, what is the ordering process? If not, can you point me in the direction of where I might find similar lampshades? We live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Thanks,
Kevin
Yes, we do sell directly to homeowners (and to lighting designers, architects, electrical contractors, restaurants, vintage shops, or anyone lloking for custom lamps, light fixtures, and lampshades). You can order whatever you want directly from us in the MCM lamp & shade store (“Order” on the menu bar). Please let us know if you have any specific questions about what we can make for you.
Hi there,
I am designing and building restaurants and commercial spaces in Vancouver and i would need an estimate on these lamp shades as well as shipping conditions. I am after 8 or 10 shades for a restaurant in Vancouver.
Regards,
Stephan
