This is the authentic Luxcraft/Majestic tambourine lampshade reproduction, made specifically for side-mount Z-lamps.
We make our shades from Lumicel fiberglass parchment alternative, so the shades have all the aesthetic appeal of fiberglass lighting duffusion materials, but without the airborne fibers, splinters, or noxious off-gassing you can get with fiberglass lampshade parchment. Plus, Lumicel lampshade parchment won’t rip or tear and it’s easy to clean, unlike some fiberglass shades.
We hand-stain the colors, hand-paint the patterns, and hand-assemble the shades. Our shades are not computer-printed like some other reproductions, and they’re not thrown together with wide spaces between the holes to speed up assembly.
The most common colors we do for the Z-lamp shades are cream, beeswax, and butterscotch, but we can do (and have done) them in any color. The gallery photos are mostly beeswax. The original color was white or cream. After decades of UV ray exposure, most of the surviving Z-lamp tambourine shades are now a faded yellow or yellow-brown, close to our beeswax or butterscotch colors. White or cream impart a more modern look, while beeswax or butterscotch colors give the shades a more vintage feel (but without the burn marks and decades of dust and smoke on most surviving tambourine shades).
By default, we use black lanyard for the whipstitching, but we can use any of our lacing options. Some original tambourine shades had a dark gold or bronze lanyard which has not been available for many years. We think black is a good lanyard choice, especially when used with the black and gold zigzag pattern.
By default, we do the zigzag pattern in black and gold, but we can do any pattern, in any color(s).
